Michael Flower
Yet another satellite from the almighty planet Vibracathedral. It's fascinating to hear just how closely related these side-projects are and how great minds think alike. Listening to a solo Flower effort is like analyzing a certain facet of the main project, precisely like listening to a solo Neil Campbell effort is like hearing one side of the story (same goes with his Astral Social Club or all other offshoots). Flower's work, just like his collegues, is based in drone, but I hear a distinctive influence from traditional oriental and middle-eastern music which is less apparent with the others. These long extended jams feel quite exotic even though they sometimes become quite noisy and atonal. Those of you who enjoy Vibracathedral's raga-esque excursions should definitely check out this artist's work. It's one hell of a trip, in all meanings of the work. Mick Flower is also a frequent guest artist in many other projects in the international psychedelic-folk-noise scene. Most notably, he has collaborated with the mighty Sunburned Hand Of The Man and Chris Corsano.
