High On Fire
Along with Mastodon, High On Fire are responsible for having brought in some much needed fresh air in the metal scene. Including ex-members of Sleep and The Melvins, High On Fire managed to pay tribute and build upon the sound of their influences; most notably, Mötorhead and Black Sabbath. The music can sometimes be as rapid as the former but as pounding and heavy as the latter. The lyrics might be silly, but being shouted in Lemmy-on-the-brink-of-death tone, you'll hardly pay attention to them. What you will be hearing though is the seriously devastating crunch in their sound and the amazing hooks which will have pressing rewind all the time just to get to hear it again.
Once again I have to thank Aquarius Records for showing the way to this band. The mathematical equation Sleep + Melvins = Good is a true and logic equation since it is verifiable in which ever order you make the calculation.
