Jackson And His Computer Band
Parisian model and musician Jackson Fourgeaud is the man behind the oddly named Jackson And His Computer Band. Busy making music since he was fifteen, he's released a few works on puny labels until he was signed by Warp Records in 2005. The Jackson And His Computer Band sound is unmistakably french. Not unlike the whole Ed banger records roster, it is basically the whole Daft Punk sound expanded, matured and surpassed. Anyone familiar with the french electroclash scene will understand what I'm talking about. A storm of loud, distorted synthesizers, mangled samples, pounding beats, staccato, arrhythmic beats all blend together into this infectious pop monster.
I don't remember exactly how I heard of the artist in the first place, but I do remember hearing the track Arpeggio for the first time. As soon as the main melody hit these ears, it was a done deal; I was hooked like a junky needs his fix. For budget and availability reasons, it took another year before I would finally purchase his first album. I absolutely love what I'm hearing, but I am somewhat disappointed that he is not more prolific.
