Campbell Kneale
Better known as Birchville Cat Motel, a moniker for his long running noise/drone project. He is also the person behind the Celebrate/Psi/Phenomenon label who has released an incredible amount of albums by artists who are relevant today, including Kemialliset Ystävät, Sandoz Lab Technicians and Reynols. He is also running the Battlecruiser label, which is dedicated to his more metal oriented projects.
But whether it be noise or metal, one thing is for sure, the way it will be communicated to the masses is through drone. That is the only constant in this man's music and projects. Pleasant at times, unbearable at others, one thing is for sure, it is constantly pushing the boundaries of the genre and is never boring. Most of his output is released in extremely limited quantities on his own label with special handmade packaging (his earlier C/P/P CD-Rs came in sample wallpaper cutouts, the more recent ones only use the patterns, beautiful to see). I personally prefer his more ambient work, even though the noise is obviously his main interest.
