Zoltán Kodály
Being obsessed with Janáček's Glagolitic Mass, I needed to find a decent version of the work on CD. I fell upon Sir Charles Meckerras' version on Chandos records which also included Kodály's Psalmus Hungaricus. I had to include him on the site as that is what I usually do with split releases, but I am not familiar at all with the composer, nor am I particularly interested in pursuing my research. I have listened to this composition once and although it is a welcome companion piece for the Glagolitic Mass, it is quite traditional, overly melodramatic and not much to my liking (yet - who knows, perhaps my tastes are not mature enough for Kodály at the moment).
