K Salvatore

Probably one of the better known spin-offs of the No Neck Blues Band conglomerate (alongside Excepter), K Salvatore (or simply Salvatore for some records - and please do not mix them up with the norwegian band of the same name) are actually two of it's core members (which ones, I have no clue) creating sounds remarkably similar to those of NNCK. You could easily be forgiven if you would mistake their brand of scraping tribal space junk for the other's. At times, the group will sound slightly more ambient, focusing on drone and weird spaced-out sounds (as on Head Spinning Freely (Slowly) but more often than not, they'll go all out and just be plain bizarre (Four Impossible Puns). I doubt that if you are already into NNCK, you have never heard of K Salvatore, but if you haven't, you could do no wrong by investigating, they are as interesting if not more so (at times).

I always feel like I've been quite lucky trying to find this group's recordings (except for my purchase of The Zahir). By the time I started listening to K Salvatore, most of their output was already out-of-print and long gone, but I've managed to find most of them at a really decent price. Even Four Impossible Puns, their rarest release, was found on eBay for under twenty bucks!!! Ecstatic Yod was selling a copy of The Counterfeiter (at the time) for well over a hundred bucks, but I found a copy from a small norwegian store (who had probably mistaken them for the aforementioned band of the same name). I'm am still desperately seeking the group's triple cassette release on Sound@One. I've only seen it for sale once on eBay (sold alongside NNCK's The Circle Broken cassette and I opted for the latter). I haven't given up however and have promised myself to get it one beautiful day.
