Michio Kurihara
Kurihara wasn't a household name for me before his collaborative effort with the always surprising Boris. Once I found out he is the main guitarist for such renowned acts like Ghost and White Heaven, everything started falling into place. I've never followed the careers of these two bands, but I know they are quite renowned when it comes to psych rock from Japan; in fact, I had heard of Ghost years ago, even checked out a few albums, but never got into it. However, after being incredibly surprised by Rainbow (the aforementioned effort with Boris), I will definitely be checking back on his earlier work. The man has obviously passed his class of "Psych-guitar-solo 101" with flying colors (literally) and then some. He's responsible for some of the most intensely fried and fuzzy solos I've heard in my life. Keep an eye out for more from him sooner or later on these pages!
