Lard Free
When I started listening to german psych-rock (krautrock), I tried to hear everything I could find from that era. I soon discovered the Spalax label which was releasing a whole bunch of these albums. Then I started listening to everything on that label. There was a lot of good releases, but a lot of uninteresting ones also. I had never heard of Lard Free before but tried to test them out at a local music store. I was immediately blown away by their music. It was half-way between electronic music (like Tangerine Dream) and total heavy psych rock (like Amon Düül II). This description applies only for the two last albums they released as the two first ones are more jazz-oriented. It all sounds very psychedelic, drugged-out and experimental. Anyone into strange music should definitely give this french band a listen and fans of Tortoise should also check them out as some of their songs seem to borrow a lot of elements from them.
