Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt picked up where Godheadsilo left off and then added an unhealthy does of caffeine and barbiturates to the sound. It's your classic bass/drum duo gone haywire. The riffs are often anthem-like, repetitious, infectious and as loud and noisy as possible. Your body responds to the music by doing everything much faster (thus driving a car is hazardous, I know, believe me... I know!).
I had heard of Lightning Bolt for a while, but it was a friend who actually made me sit down and listen to it while I was on vacation. He had been making me listen to a few other artists that same night, some of them interesting, some less, but it was when he put Lightning Bolt on that I really started paying attention. I borrowed the CDs, put them on my iPod and once I was back home and got a pay, I ordered all three CDs available at the time from Amazon.com. They've become the equivalent of a cup of coffee for me. Every time I feel down, lazy or under the weather, I put on Wonderful Rainbow, drink a cup of real coffee and then go ahead with what I should have been doing in the first place.
