First released in a puny edition of 100 copies on the La Musica label back in 1999, Solid Stick Attack sees the light of day again in 2006 as what seems to be a shoddy bootleg. I bought this thinking it was an official re-release (considering that it cost me forty bucks!), but seeing as the cover is badly pasted over an old dusty record jacket (if I peel back one of the thin corners which hasn't stuck, I can make out the words "Greatest Hits" behind it), I doubt this is the real deal. This is probably my only chance of hearing this without waiting for it to show up on eBay. I feel like I've been duped, but at least the music is really great. You get your usual blast of intense punk/stoner rock behind layers upon layers of distortion and "in-the-purple" volume. Many of these tracks were to show up again on Imaginative Plain and the song Black Sky is a shorter version of the one on Mellow Out. |
