Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen... Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen... Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen... This pretty much sums up the first thirteen minutes of this album. The two first pieces are the readings of the votes for the 1962 and 1968 presidential elections in Finland. Besides the political aspect of the pieces they also have a bizarre rhythmic quality, as if someone was reciting a mantra over and over again. You could easily fall into a trance-like state if you have the patience to hear them out. It's the next few pieces however that will make all you fans of bizarre music want to hunt this album down. Using old jazz/blues recordings, Mallander proceeds to play around with samples, speed and the mashing of different tunes to create incredibly strange soundscapes. Fans of Milan Knizak's infamous Broken Music should definitely check this out as there are quite a few similarities.
