MSTRKRFT
MSTRKRFT is Canada's answer to Daft Punk. It is one half of Death From Above 1979 (former bassist Jesse F. Keeler) and Al-P, both helming from Toronto, Ontario. After listening to this duo, it's easy to hear where the party mood of DFA1979 came from. Although MSTRKRFT's sound is dangerously close to Daft Punk's music, it is still incredibly good and the quality is on par with their french counterpart. It's impossible not to smile and get the sudden urge to go robo on the dance floor when popping their debut album in the stereo. They are quickly rising to fame, aided by a few intriguing videos which simply must be seen to be believed.
I have to admit that it took a while for me to get into MSTRKRFT regardless of the Death From Above 1979 link. I heard Easy Love and thought it was quite good, but not enough to make me actually go out and get the record. But when the video for Work On You with it's sexy transformers animation (again dangerously close to Daft Punk's aesthetics however) that I got hooked. I quickly got addicted their debut and can't wait to hear some more.
