I love these early solo efforts by Matt Valentine, it's too bad they're so limited (even with the COM Relics re-issues). They seem to be just the slightest bit more fucked up and psychedelic than the later releases. Yes, the folk side is very present, but it is balanced out by incredibly bizarre and brain-melting tracks or sound effects. The record starts off with the lovely, early-morning folk-raga that is Bonny Bonny Doon, perfect for sipping that psylocibin tea. Time for a stroll in the woods on > Nature, but hold on, I think the drugs are kicking in because the birds don't sound exactly right... something about them... beautiful! Back home, it's time for some more folk music on the front porch and why not have some wine for dinner. As the Cork is lifted, so is the listener as the record becomes increasingly bizarre. There are many more surprises in store which I wouldn't want to ruin here (make sure to stay tuned until hypnotic The Sool Of Drool). 99 copies only.
