The final volume in the Heroine Celestial Agriculture series is a reworking of Death Don't Have No Mercy, a traditional american folk tune. The album version was already quite gloomy, taking the song's subject matter and creating an adequately depressing atmosphere, but the extended version is even darker (this is mostly due to the bad sound quality). The song is juxtaposed with the equally somber Death, Won't You Be Kind, it's bizarre oscillating sounds, strange harmonica acrobatics and piano playing making it a perfect follow up to one of the darkest tunes in the whole MV+EE discography. Moon II finds the duo back in magic mushroom land, exploring soundscapes and grounds which The Taj-Mahal Travellers had laid out over thirty years ago. A beautiful ending to a lovely series. |
