Only three songs on this twenty minute long EP which was also a part of the deluxe edition of The Dance Of The Moon And The Sun. Contrary to the pastoral vibe of it's sister release (The Moonraiser), The Sundowner is the closest thing NSB have come to pure doom. They Raise The Dead Don't They sounds like a cross between Dead Can Dance and SunnO))) resulting in some pretty terrifying drones and exotic mayhem. Trench might not be as doom-oriented, but it's smothery creepy atmosphere and gloomy tone is certain to cause distress in the listener. This one is easily my favorite track of the three and reminds me of some of Doktor Kettu's early, reverb drenched drones and somber vibe. Dawn Celebration is the only relatively upbeat track on the EP, yet even it retains a powerful and mysterious aura to facilitate the prying of one's third eye. Limited to 250 copies and absolutely worth hunting down (like all of NSB's releases). |
