Queen Adreena
If you, like me, were a Daisy Chainsaw fan back in the early nineties, you were broken hearted when you found out they lasted only one album (with Katie Jane Garside), but deep down inside, you knew it couldn't just end this way and that they would be back in some form or other. How surprised I was when I found out it was under the name Queen Adreena. It was actually a cute little metal/goth chick from a record store in Stockholm who turned me on to this band. She told me to listen to their album Taxidermy. The cover looked like your typical goth record, but when I put it on I quickly figured out these guys were more original than that. The crunchy guitar/bass riffs made all the difference. The vocals (which I didn't recognize right away) reminded me of PJ Harvey with a girlish touch. I liked it, but wasn't ready to buy it.
I did try and get more information about them and that's when I found out Queen Adreena and Daisy Chainsaw were related and that not only was it fronted by the legendary (in my book) Katie Jane, but also original DC guitarist Crispin Grey. It was too good to be true, yet I still did not purchase the album, this time because it was sold out and the store had trouble getting a new copy. They had time to release two more albums before I finally went ahead and purchased it on sale in the same store (two years after I had left them) when I had a bit of extra money left over from my pay.
