This short EP holds some of the finest music I've heard from The Residents. Intermission were songs composed for the group's infamous Mole Show (which was a huge financial disaster) as pieces to be played between the different "acts" of the concert. These five songs are some of the darkest numbers by the legendary group and are very much in harmony with the depressing nature of the conceptual work. All tracks are quite fascinating on their own (and pretty much better than anything found on Tunes Of Two Cities), the weird choice of instruments, the mangled vocals and twisted melodies; but some standouts include Would We Be Alive? (which was later covered by canadian art-punk outfit NoMeansNo). Shorty's Lament, with it's flanging tribal drums is another highlight which ends with a bang. Absolutely essential work for fans (it's inexcusable for me to have waited so long to get this back).
