Album Cover

Often considered as Sonic Youth's all-time classic, Daydream Nation does indeed include some of the most powerful tracks the group has ever committed to tape. Any doubts about them being your average underground band could now be laid to rest. This is the album that would influence so many of the artists that were to grace the indie scene (Sebadoh, Eric's Trip, you name it!). Opener Teen Age Riot for example should be mandatory listening in schools of rock. How the group manage to mold these weird, detuned guitar riffs and rapid beats into a pop rock classic is simply astounding! Many of the songs on this record are actually quite heavy. 'Cross The Breeze, might start off softly enough, but once the beat comes in, duck for cover! As is the case with all of the late 80's Sonic Youth records, there is not a single weak song in sight (check out Rain King). The deluxe edition includes a live rendition of the album and a few covers.
