This first album by obscure japanese heavy psych ensemble Speed, Glue & Shinki is deeply rooted in blues, but it is not as heavy and experimental as the following double album (except for the strange M Glue - what is going on here?). Very strong references to drugs throughout (as is the case with both albums) which would explain the psychedelic side of the music, plenty of reverb and fuzzed-out guitar solos. In a certain way, they sound like a blues-ier version of what Black Sabbath were doing on The Wizard, a tune off of their first eponymous album (without the harmonica) and of course it is very close in spirit to the music of fellow countrymen Flower Travellin' Band. This Warner Music Japan mini-LP replica reissue sounds and looks absolutely incredible. It comes complete with a reproduction of the original liner notes and includes the old-fashioned OBI-strip! |
