One of Squarepusher's many releases in 1997, Big Loada is noteworthy for it's old-school, minimalist vibe. With tons of 8-bit samples, cheap casio tones and whatnot, Jenkinson has created what sounds like the perfect soundtrack to some early nineties Nintendo video game (tracks like A Journey To Reedham, Massif are perfect examples). This EP also holds one of Squarepusher's most renowned tunes: Come On My Selector, which was to be extended and turned into a video by Chris Cunningham. Using what sounds like Woody Woodpecker samples with the artist's patented maddening beats, funky basslines and violent stop'n'go dynamic, this track literally sounds like a lifetime in a monster pinball machine condensed into a three minutes song (The Bodybuilder is another such tune). The short Jacques mal Chance [...] has got to be one of the most hilarious filler tracks I've ever heard. American version includes a few bonus tracks.
