Along with Hard Normal Daddy, this is my favorite release by Squarepusher. Don't know what it is about it, but I find it to be one of Jenkinson's most thrilling releases. Throughout it's seventeen tracks (even though the CD only lists thirteen of them), I find that it perfectly encapsulates all of the artist's many facets, from the drill'n'bass tendencies of the early albums to the later, more experimental and jazz-fusion oriented material without ever focusing exclusively on any one of these sounds. Dedicated Loop is one of my favorite tracks in this regard. Creepy, mellow, yet completely funky with one of the most memorable conclusions to any of the artist's songs I've heard to date. This song is immediately followed by the equally wonderful Tomorrow World; this song puts me in a good mood almost without fail with it's upbeat vibe and energetic beats and bridge. There are plenty more surprises in store so I won't ruin any more of them. |
