Stereolab might have come late into my life, but I'm sure glad they did, and if they did, it's because of this album. Some argue that this album is also their best and most representative effort to date. They definitely had achieved a new peak in this, their "second" phase with this one. Metronomic Underground, the opening track, is a perfectly crafted tune. The build-up is incredible and will cause you to get goose-bumps. Cybele's Reverie was the album's single and it's indeed a great song with it's passionate chorus and shifting dynamics. Les Yper-Sound and OLV 26 are two more tracks which I consider to be highlights. The Noise Of Carpet brings out the group's more aggressive and nihilist sides (something not completely obvious if one only listens to the music). And of course you have the title track with it's funky motorik groove played throughout. A must have!
