I always respected the fact that Stereolab always gave their fans the chance to hear everything they put out no matter how rare or limited a release was. They would compile them on numerous compilations: the Switched On... series, Oscillons From The Anti-Sun and now this one. The collectors still had the valuable versions, but the casual fan could still have access to the music! Splendid idea! Fab Four Suture is the equivalent of Switched On Volume 5 as it collects all of the 7" releases that came out since Margarine Eclipse. The songs on this album find the group going back to their roots and focusing on making really fun pop music. I hadn't heard them sound so playful in a long time and it feels like a breath of fresh air. Gone are the really weird experimental tunes. These are good in small doses, but Stereolab really shine when they let go of their pretensions.
