This short EP is a good example of the "groop's" early krautrock-inspired brand of pop music. It would also hint at their later direction towards lounge/bachelor pad music. Avant Garde M.O.R. is a slow tune which uses both the familiar vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar strumming, they are very repetitive and the layering of sounds provides the song's build-up. Track two, Space Age Bachelor Pad Music (Mellow), sounds like a malfunctioning 16-bit video game system playing lounge music! The second Space Age track sounds like a really fucked up version of Les Yper Yper Sounds taken from a later single to Cybele's Reverie. Things really start to rock on the last three songs. We're Not Adult Oriented is Stereolab in top shape and it could easily have been included on the Refried Ectoplasm CD. If you liked this one, just wait until you hear the Neu Wave Live redoing of this same song! Wow!
