At this point in Stereolab's career, the keyboards had become way more prominent then on their earlier first few releases and the guitars were playing a smaller roll. This marks the second phase in their on-going career. The music was still very repetitive and the vocal harmonies were as addictive, but with the droning synth chords, the music had become much more dreamy; in other words: perfectly constructed pop gems. Two tracks on here went on to become singles and even videos were made. Wow And Flutter with it's three synth chords will have you bob your head and tap your feet for the duration of the song. Ping Pong is quite similar with it's three chords but the addition of brass instruments gives it a warmer feel. Stereolab hint yet again at their love for the german group Neu! with the song Outer Accelerator (using the wah-wah guitars from the song Hallogallo off of the their first album).
