This exclusive 7" came along with the first few orders of Stereolab's latest full length Chemical Chords at Aquarius Records. Not sure if these were left over tracks from the Chemical Chord sessions, but the site announced them as exclusive non-album tracks. Both songs are extremely short, but what they lack in size, they make for in playfulness. The A-side's Spool Of Collusion, with it's rapid, upbeat tempo, incessant marimbas is music for your sunny sunday summer patio BBQ parties. You can almost feel the warm breeze, see the blue skies and smell the spices which disappear as soon as the song ends after only two minutes. Forensic Itch is as fun as it's counterpart if not more so. Starting off like the soundtrack to a haunted house as created by the Partridge family, rainbow colors, golden-paved roads and all; the track seems to become spiked with LSD towards the end as twisted elements and funky sound effects take over. A pleasant trip! |
