On this album, the ranting which is to feature more often on later albums makes it's first appearance. I'm not to sure what they're blabbing on about on the first title track, but it certainly has this hippy-beatnik vibe to it! The music on this track is not that great. It's on the ten part Glens which follows is where things get interesting. On the first one, there is a very prominent buzzing keyboard sound which gives the song a very dark and gloomy feel; the funkiness of their earlier albums is completely absent for the first time. The rest of the series sounds like the a bunch of monkeys and trolls covering some Residents songs! The sixth part is absolutely insane! Don't really know what to make of it, but it puts a smile on my face! It all ends with the beautiful, eastern-tinged jam that is My Wings, My Vision. Pretty fucking strange album, but an interesting new direction for the group. |
