I wasn't sure whether I was ever going to hunt down this release. I always looked at it as a compilation of sorts, but I enjoyed the idea that these three bands were all asked to contribute a song (or "score") that would accompany an art exhibition back in 2003. Sunburned Hand Of The Man's contribution starts off sounding like a Sun City Girls/Butthole Surfers rip-off before finally finding it's own fucked up identity (although some other parts have Sun Ra written all over it). Amazing stuff, but Sunburned have done better before and after this. Sightings' contribution is like a primitive industrial track remixed by Amon Tobim while wearing a blindfold and is easily the best track of the three. The Arb (which I have never from before or since this release) give us a noisy track which we've heard millions of times on any Wolf Eyes album. Not quite original, but as is always the case with Wolf Eyes, never boring either. |
