Along with Torch Of The Mystics, this double album is probably Sun City Girls' best and most eclectic album. For those of you who, like me, love it when the trio showcase their "world music" influences, this album will definitely be the one to get (unfortunately, it's also one of their rarest and most coveted). Civet's Tango starts the album with a bang and includes some of the most deranged vocals I've ever heard in a SCG song. This and the next eight tracks are the ones I usually listen to when I put the album on. The fuzzed-out, orient-a-go-go of Soi Cowboy or the setting sun, island moods serenading of Rookoobay are particularly uplifting and fun to hear while as songs like CCC or Cruel And Thin will be the downers in your drink. The second CD includes Ghost Ghat Trespass/Sussmeier a two part, thirty-four minute middle-eastern jam which will have you reach for that opium pipe. |
