I don't believe there is any other band out there who are so true to themselves and so unrelentingly uncompromising with their fans. No music is difficult enough, no ideas dangerous and queer enough not to be explored and reviewed by the trio. Start the album off with a twelve-minute-long spoken bit? Why not!!!? The rest of Jack's Creek sounds like a slice of life within a gang of violent racist rednecks out on a musical rampage after having ingested family-sized quantities of peyote buttons. There are subtle and not so subtle references to slavery, xenophobia and the civil war and if I didn't know better, I could easily have taken this for some long lost home recording that someone found in an abandoned barn somewhere in Arkansas. The music is often fucked up enough to remind me this is not the real deal, but the atmosphere is so convincing at times it becomes disturbing enough to give me shivers. Fans of Caroliner will adore this one!
