Album Cover

Probably the slowest metal album ever in the history of the genre. These are the earliest available recordings by Sunn O))). They were released in numerous limited formats before Southern Lord finally made them widely available again in 2005. There is very little that differentiates Sunn O))) albums from one another as they are all drone-based, but this one in particular sounds even more minimal than usual. It is extremely slow, with practically no dynamics at all. The closest thing I could compare it to is to labelmates Boris' Absolutego, although that one had beats coming in at twenty-five minutes into the song. You can forget about them here. This is what draws me to this album however and until I find something even more minimal, it will remain one of my favorite drone albums alongside La Monte Young's compositions.
