Man! This album is coooool! I feel like listening to this with shades on, bobbing my head lightly to the music while smoking a cigar and drinking a bourbon. I'm in a dingy lounge-bar and there's a faulty neon-beer logo behind me. Yeah! That's what it's all about! That funky organ playing is really hitting the right spot, and the saxophone is just totally out there! Lovely! And that's just the first track! We're pretty far from outer space however, something which I would have expected from Sun Ra. Somebody Else's World, with it's insane vocals, is pretty wild and psychedelic however and serves as our gateway to the space jams that are to follow. These really start with the song The Wind Speaks and go one for the next four tracks. They are noisy and completely whacked solo keyboard tracks. No funkiness here, in fact it sounds like your synapses are being tweaked with probes and electrodes. |
