The two volumes of Heliocentric Worlds were the recordings which established Sun Ra as a force to be reckoned with within free jazz. Volume Two includes three long works. The Sun Myth hints at the stranger efforts of Sun Ra, low end notes from the string instruments, slow tribal drum work and strange synth noodling (which sound at times like video game noises). A House Of Beauty is the album's shortest track, but also the weirdest, the keyboards are all over the place here, sounding like a broken fictitious time machine, a high pitched flute gives the mechanical noises an earthy feel. The last track, Cosmic Chaos was not exactly as chaotic as I had expected, in fact, it's the most traditional (if that may be said of free jazz) song of the three. I must say I prefer this album simply because I love it's use of the synthesizer which is unfortunately completely absent from the first volume.
