I love Sun Ra, each of his albums is a treat. Whether he is delving into spooky, deep space territory, bizarro experimentations, naive, child-like pieces or even traditional bebop; you know there would always be an element of surprise. We Travel The Space Ways falls into slightly naive territory, there's a certain childish quality to some of these pieces (the theme-like Interplanetary Music for example). I am 100% certain that Eve was a source of inspiration for The Residents' first album. We're far from the wild side of Sun Ra I fell in love with in the beginning, but I still find these pieces to be quite enjoyable and a good initiation to some of his more traditional work (without completely keeping my feet firmly planted on the ground). I personally prefer the first half of the CD to the second (The Bad And The Beautiful) although the latter does have it's highlights (Exotic Two, Ankh).
