After a pretty lame (and unfortunately long) synthesizer intro which sounds like the soundtrack to some crappy horror b-movie on 6.1, the group manage to get their act together and deliver an other unbelievable album in their (yet) flawless discography. Most of these songs are quite moody, dark and atmospheric and the focus is obviously on the synthesizer's possibilities as it is prominent on practically every song. 6.1 does eventually get better once the noisier bits infiltrate the tune giving it this retro obscure synth album feel (think Igor Wakhevitch). Arve Henriksen has a go at singing on 6.6 and his voice is reminiscent of Sigur Ros' Jon Thor Birgisson (and the song is as atmospheric as anything the icelandic band has released - but cuts out the excess melodramatic fat). My favorite track however is 6.3 with it's steady build-up and apocalyptical climax. Another essential release by the group.
