The perfect music to commit suicide to. This is some of the darkest and most beautiful folk music I've heard this side of Leonard Cohen (even the deep and nasal vocals sound similar at times). Rebecca could very well be a modern-day Suzanne, it practically has the same impact on me with it's incredible use of words and slow guitar melody! But Tinsel is not trying to sound like the singer/songwriter type, there is plenty more on this album that suggests he is out to play around with the conventional folk sounds. The few instrumental tunes are good examples of these intentions (The Halo Seeds or Golden City). The looped guitar melody of The Great Indoors sounds great within the hermetic context of the song. On Sleep In Deep, I can hear the subtle use of harmonium samples by Nico in the background and the outro with the high-pitched chipmunk vocals is very disturbing. Long out-of-print today.
