Tinsel
It's by pure luck that I even heard about Tinsel in the first place. I purchase quite a bit of music off of eBay and I had been looking for Kemialliset Ystävät's album Suurempi Pieni Palatsi for quite a while and fell upon an auction for a CD lot which included Tinsel's album The Lead Shoe as a bonus. When I found out it was released on casual friend Mats Gustafsson's Broken Face imprint, I became twice as curious.
Tinsel makes very psychedelic folk music without ever getting overly weird. Some of his work sounds like a a more drugged out version of Leonard Cohen at his most depressed. I hear a bit of Richard Youngs in here as well. I'm surprised we don't here much of Tinsel considering the relative success of other psych folk artists of the DIY scene.
