I loved this record when it came out, I still do, but mostly for nostalgic reasons today. I hadn't heard this for years when I finally decided to purchase it again in late 2006. It has aged well over the years, even though the crude, ancient electronics vibe might make it sound otherwise. The successful mix of complex rock riffs, odd times and bizarre, dirty sounding synths or cheap keyboards is what attracted me to this album in the first place. Songs like Enforcer felt like the soundtrack to speeding in a sportscar out in the desert, Firepoker sounded like it could have been included on the soundtrack to Dawn Of The Dead while Orlando could easily make you think they'd open for AC/DC some day. With such an incredible homogenous flow, tight material and a nice experimental touch, this album remains a classic in my book. One that begs to be rediscovered over and over again. |
