For those of you who still need to be convinced that Finland is a country thriving with underground musical talent, here comes volume two of the Arctic Hysteria compilation serie. It builds upon the success of the first volume with even more music (two CDs), a wider, more varied choice of artists (there's even pop music!) and this time the liner notes come in english! The booklet is jam packed with rare photos and fascinating information about the artists and the music. There was a lot of research put into these compilations and it shows. This feels like hearing long lost documents finally seeing the light of day after years of obscurity. There are many Airaksinen-related tracks on here, M.A. Numminen makes another appearance as well, Anton Nikkilä's early punk-noise outfit Swissair is a highlight and you can hear two pre-Warp Records Jimi Tenor tracks. As essential as volume one.
