This is as legendary a recording as it gets (well, almost). First released as a double LP in 1973, this remains one of the earliest live documents of the whole japanese psych-rock scene. The first CD includes songs from three different artists who all stay within the confines of the american psych-rock scene of the time, I can hear some Janis Joplin, Beatles and even Buddy Holly in there. It's the second CD however which will interest all you psych geeks out there. It includes very early songs by the always confusing Taj-Mahal Travelers and the even more fucked up Les Rallizes Denudes. Both of them offer incredibly potent songs which are sure to floor even the most open-minded individuals out there. The Rallizes contribution is particularly over-the-top as expected. One pretty big downside however is the sound: not remastered, vinyl hiss-infected and sadly recorded WAY too low; it'll sound horrible without some sort of audio enhancer. 300 copies only. |
