Finland, Finland, Finland, the country where I want to be! Seriously, if I wouldn't have been born in Canada during those wacky seventies, I would have liked to be a finn! I don't know if it's the fact that it's probably one of the most isolated european countries, often forgotten or simply neglected, but I constantly seem to be hearing something new and original coming from this land of a thousand lakes. Whether it be from over thirty years ago or fresh off the presses, there's always something quite fascinating and particular about them (even GWAR-clones Lordi caught the world by surprise). This compilation is a great companion piece to the Arctic Hysteria series. The first CD focuses mostly on the hippie movement and there are tons of weird folk and fuzzed out acidic rock tracks to be heard (some of these songs sound remarkably like Yahowha 13. The second CD is much more experimental including tracks by the almighty Sperm and friends. |
