More fluffy and billowy goodness on this 2002 edition of the Pop Ambient series. The opening track Tal '90 by Tal (one of Wolfgang Voigt's many pseudonyms) could easily have been passed as a Gas track (no pun intended), another Voigt moniker. He makes a second appearance as All on the last track, Alles Fließt Nichts Bleibt a surprisingly irritating ambient track with a thick string drone and high-pitched noise in the background. Regulars Lohmann, Dettinger and Guentner all make appearances once again with Lohmann's Java being once again a highlight (the wind instrument drones are beautiful). The surprise for me on this one however was from unknown artist Novisad. His lo-fi Sommersonnenschein feels alien when compared to the rest of the album. It's hiss and crackles with the looped guitar sample give it an incredibly moody and melancholic feel. |
