First released on a limited vinyl edition, My Gates Open, Tremble By My Side finds the group in a more contemplative mood (relatively speaking). Only two tracks, both of which clock in at over twenty minutes. Track one uses a steady acoustic guitar strum as it's backbone, it takes a full nine minutes however before the song builds up noticeably and another ten minutes before it climaxes. Of course the Vibracathedral Orchestra have never been renowned for their pace, but neither have they been for their dramatic effect and here, it simply does not work (whatever happened to starting the song with a blast and letting it die out?). The second track has a psychedelic feel which makes it much more enjoyable; those pounding drums butting in at four minutes into the song and leading you towards the blissful second half. No need for drugs anymore! Definitely worth getting just for this track.
