Is there anything trippier than a Vibracathedral Orchestra album? This obscure little cassette release holds two UK shows by these psych-drone legends and the first thing that hits you when you put this on is how out-of-this-world the music feels. This isn't rock, it's not some exotic raga, it's not even a blending of the two! It's definitely drone-based, yet there's so much going on that it never feels monotonous. The sound is quite lo-fi as well, yet it still manages to capture your attention and draw you into their dizzying world. Things never get completely out of control (you could even say it's quite soothing in parts), but the music is so incredibly hypnotizing you just might need an adrenaline shot to get out of this sound-induced daze. You get two complete live sets on one tape, so considering the low price and the amount of vibracathedral-isms you get for your money, this is definitely one title you should hunt down. |
