I don't know if it's the added production, but up until now, all the releases by VO on VHF Records really shine through; their psychedelic drones more powerful and clearer than ever, drilling away at your brain with the greatest of ease. Your Head Shone Like A Stone, the opening track certainly would have you believe the group is out to alter your consciousness. There aren't really any weak tracks on this album, but some do stand out, like the massive, skull-shattering bass rumble of Magnetic Burn or the majestic, otherworldliness of Goodnight Stars Goodnight Air with it's chirping wild birds, folk tinged guitar melodies and lovely female vocals. A good idea for those new to VO would be to start with the three first studio albums on VHF Records (and maybe add Hot Booty! as a good example of a live album). |
