One track, one show, one hour long... Exactly! To the second! Pretty incredible, too bad I can't really say as much about the music itself. It all starts off on a pretty good note as rare electronic beeps make their way into the mix, but there is no drone, nor pounding drums (the key VO sound) yet. In fact, it takes a full six minutes before those chugging drums come in and another ten minutes before a steady drone slowly sets in. One really good thing about this album however is the fact that the music is quite varied throughout. There are some really nice alien sounds which I had never heard the band use before surfacing once in a while. I sorely miss the middle-eastern influences to their sound (instruments) however; they do show up, but they're slowly taking a back seat as the band seems to want to try and get that popular "New Weird America" sound instead (Guys! You were there way before them!). |
