Vibracathedral Orchestra

The drone doesn't get much better than this folks! The Vibracathedral Orchestra are major players in the closely knit family of noise-drone artists from the UK: Matthew Bower's many projects, Simon Wickham-Smith, Richard Youngs. Some of these artists, Bower for example, have even participated in the VO collective on certain recordings. All of these artists have similar roots, but none of them sound quite as exotic. There is a strong element of world music in the VO sound, middle-eastern tinged melodies and drones abound on many recordings even though the instruments used are often distinctively from the west. Putting an album on is like traveling across the world at impressive speed while on mind-altering drugs.

Once again, I have to thank emusic.com for letting me have a glimpse in the wonderful world of the Vibracathedral Orchestra, by letting me download two of their albums. It took many years for me to decide to actually purchase these recordings, but I eventually did, in a big way, ordering all of their available albums at the time. Been trying to get every single new recording ever since!
