According to the group's website, The Mountains Among Us was released in an edition of only 190 copies with Beta-Lactam responsible for 145 copies while the group's own Volucan label released only 45. Apparently the Voleven CD-R (a compilation album with side-projects and friends) is only available with the Volucan edition (which comes in a huge pizza box with a paper mache volcano on top), but I found it in my Beta-Lactam edition which is numbered 93/100! So go figure! The music on this one is mind-blowing! This is some of the most nightmarish music the Bears have ever committed to tape (which is saying a lot in this case). The album's highlight is without a doubt, side A's Sublime And Supreme [...], a wild number which often shifts from the very quiet and creepy (like AMM) to surprisingly terrifying bursts of noise. Dragon Or Empire is a similarly dark dronescape which could probably scare away the guys behind Brast Burn. |
