I really love Volcano The Bear! If you, like me, miss the more barbaric early days of The Residents, then the Bears are the perfect consolation. I've said it before and I'll say it again, even though I can hear an obvious influence in Volcano The Bear's work, they are by no means copycats. I see their music as an extension of the free-spiritedness and weird, child-like naivetyThe Residents were so good at creating over thirty years ago. With The One Burned Ma, the group really go all-out to bring you some of the weirdest, most deranged music out there without having recourse to devilish noise (although repeated listening will most certainly get you institutionalized). Lily And The Sparrows sounds remarkably similar to Brast Burn's only album with it's use of high pitched vocals. Very strong and varied work which I highly recommend to all you curious people out there. |
