One of the many live recordings by Volcano The Bear. My copy of Voldozer sports extremely similar artwork to my copy of Volwheat, a completely different album. Like many of the group's later recordings, their sound is deeply rooted in free-jazz yet again, the electronic elements are barely there anymore. This is somewhat sad as it added an extra edge to the group's sound. Not that this recording is bad, in fact, there's some great tunes on here as always (Egg And Two Books On Giant Swallows is one of the albums highlights with it's Residents-like vocals. Volcano The Bear's albums are always fascinating, but some are more than others, and this one somewhat fails to meet with the group's otherwise high standards. My copy comes with handmade artwork (the paint has made the paper undulate) and is limited, but I don't know how many copies are out there. |
